Following on from our colour trends story of Pantones colour prediction of Radiant Orchid, we are seeing some distinct colour trend predictions emerging from some of Australia’s leading paint houses. We’ll investigate these over the week.
Today it’s the neutral palette. Australia has a continuing love of the neutral background on their walls. We love natural light and more than often tend towards light walls to maximise the light in our rooms. The neutral colour also provides a backdrop for adding colours through our accessories and artwork.
Paint house Resene (www.resene.com.au) are seeing a change in the neutrals palette “with greys and whites merging subtly with yellows. Decorators still want a white scheme, but where they used to choose whites with grey in them” Resene is seeing a move “more towards whites with a yellow undertone to warm things up.” In terms of Beige colours, Resene are also seeing a move towards these “warming up, mixing with rich creams, honeys and soft yellows”.
